Last chance to order my zine Floating
I wrote and published a zine called Floating (description below). I’m sending out the last shipment this weekend. I’m not sure if/when I’ll do another print run, so if you’re interested in reading, order now!
Floating is a collection of musings about being an American socialist desperate to break out of the culture war, yearning to expatriate, and hoping for something like heaven. This zine weaves together personal narrative and social commentary to reflect on a variety of topics including the tiresome creep of liberal identitarianism into the professional world, reconciling belief in the inevitability of human violence with the desire to improve our world, moving beyond cool or fringe as a prerequisite for being a leftist, feeling professionally trapped by the inevitable weight of debt, a more-compassionate less-bitter take on the much-loathed social justice warrior, the necessity of unabashed creators and a call for outgrowing the constraints of cancel culture. This description makes it all sound far more serious than it is, so keep in mind it includes self-roasts such as me suggesting my attachment to the immigration stories of my great grandparents is a bit like being obsessed with Harry Potter.
